Little star in the black sky, you shine. You help me find my way home. You are my hope in the darkness. You are my dream. Why are you here, if the sky around you is black?
I was born with my sisters in the blue sky. People wrote about us in their books, dreamed about us, counted on us. We shone brightly in response. The time of the black night came, and it chained us to heavy chains. The stars became like grey stones, like caged birds, like chained books. The stars stretched upwards and one by one they went out. Continuing to strive, I eventually freed myself from the chains, only to discover that there were no more stars around me. I was alone in the black sky. Shedding tears, I looked down and saw people in the darkness. Unable to see the way, unable to see each other. No one to help them find hope, except for the little star that lights up the dark sky around it.

Chained library is the name of the medieval tradition of chaining books. When books existed in a single copy, they had to be ringed in order not to lose. But today we read it primarily as an image. Books in chains are like birds in a cage.

For a man of the Middle Ages, a library is freedom. It is a space that accumulates the past and opens up the future. The ability and ability to read is a superpower, and people who read (monks) are at the same time people who write, know and create. The first European scientists were people who came out of the monastery library.

The library is like an open space. And a chained book is like a star imprisoned in a dungeon. A dream on a chain is fragile, bright, born to be a landmark – it slowly goes out in the oppressive space of a dark reality.
