series of sculptures and graphic sheets porcelain, charred wood paper, soot, gel pen, pencil
In this project, the artist explores the theme of fragility and investigates her national identity through territories that are blood-related or spirit-related. She travels through the Arkhangelsk region and Karelia, seeking to remember and immortalize what will soon disappear and find inner harmony by creating a fragile connection between the dissolved archaism of the past and the present. The contrast between white porcelain and the rough texture of charred wood holds a special significance in the project. For the artist, porcelain symbolizes preciousness and fragility, something that needs to be preserved. All objects are handmade, and the process of working on them is a long meditative process, similar to traditional women's activities such as embroidery. The charred wood is an ambivalent image that can be seen as a release from the unnecessary, a purification, but at the same time, fire is a tragedy; a city that has existed for centuries can disappear in a matter of minutes.
